There are 37 numbers on the roulette wheel from 0 – 36, and there is a multitude of different bets and odds that you can place and win on the spin of a wheel.

Straight Up (one number) – 35/1
Split (two adjacent numbers on the layout) – 17/1
Street (three numbers horizontally on the layout) – 11/1
Corner (a block of four numbers) – 8/1
Six Line (six numbers horizontally on the layout) – 5/1

1st, 2nd or 3rd Dozen (1-12, 13-26 or 27-36) – 2/1
1st, 2nd or 3rd Column – 2/1

Red/Black, Odd Even or High/Low (1-18 or 19-36) – 1/1

The exception to this rule is if zero is spun. Zero can be betted on like any other number on the layout, and if it comes in then all of the losing bets on other numbers are cleared. Also, all bets on the dozens and columns are cleared – what happens with all even chance bets that have been placed is that half is taken (i.e if you have £100 on red and zero comes in, the dealer will take £50 of your stake).

Contrary to popular belief a casino wheel does not contain any magnets, nor is programmed by the croupiers foot underneath the gaming table. It is purely chance as to which number the ball falls into – the only reason why it seems as if they house constantly seems to win is because the odds are in their favour!

Roulette is one of the most fast paced and adrenaline rushing casino games out there, and with a little practise you’ll soon be playing with confidence!
